Matthew Thompson is a DMA candidate in Choral Conducting and currently directs the Vocal Collegium Musicum. He holds a BM in organ performance from Utah State University and a MM in Church Music from the University of Kansas.

Matthew performs regularly as a guest organist on the daily organ recital series at the famed Mormom Tabernacle, in Salt Lake City.

As a graduate teaching assistant at KU, Matthew has taught Music Technology and Jazz Piano, and directed Jazz Combos, Women's Vocal Jazz, and Women's Chorale. From 2004-2007 he served as Director of Worship and Music at Baldwin First United Methodist Church, in Baldwin City, KS, where he conducted the chancel choir. He currently is Assistant Director of Worship and Music at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lawrence, KS, where he leads a Jazz Eucharist Service.

Matthew serves as the Communications Director for the KU Choral Division.
